Alera Merix450 Series Review

Made purely with comfort in mind, the Alera Merix450 Series is marketed as being a chair which puts the user’s back in high priority without sacrificing any other features as a means to do so. This goes in great contrast with many chairs in today’s age which have you choose between something that looks nice and something that feels nice. As such, you’ll most likely find the chair both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing.

Quality & Material

While you may be able to appreciate the chair from afar, you can truly see the level of quality in its craftsmanship from up close. Despite using mesh throughout a large portion of its make, the chair maintains a solid, high-end look about it. The materials used in its make are all either made entirely with mesh or simply have mesh surrounding them. Despite this, it does not project the flimsy feel you might expect but rather increases the overall sense of quality you get from the chair.

This is one area that may come as a bit of a surprise to those who have yet to use the chair or see it in person. While the mesh used in its make forced me to knock a single point off of the chair’s durability rating, you would imagine it to not be very durable at all, given just the sheer volume of mesh used in its make. This; however, is not the case. With a warranty to match (which we’ll cover in a moment), you can be sure this chair will be around nearly as long as the office in which it sits.

This is where the chair’s mesh really comes into play. Whether your office is too hot or too cold, you can be sure that the Alera Merix450 Series will help regulate your temperature to some degree or another. Because of the chair’s many holes, you’ll find that no heat gets trapped behind your back. The seat of the chair also breathes very well. On the other hand, because the chair has little in the way of solid material on its back, you won’t need to worry about cold air cooling it down to any tremendous degree. On top of this, the chair’s mesh offers a very consistent softness you would almost (though not completely) equate to that of your typical memory foam mattress.

Design and Finish

The design of this chair is absolutely brilliant. This is – like most of the praise offered to the Alera Merix450 Series – due largely to the mesh used in its make. The back has a sleek look which could almost be described as offering hints of a “metallic” feel, while the seat of the chair almost looks like something you’d expect to find in a high-end European couch. As with its hints of quality, the chair’s true beauty begins to shine more and more as you get closer and closer to it. It’s not until you’re face-to-face with the chair that you can truly appreciate the complex design offered by the seat.

The Alera Merix450 Series comes with a five-year warranty. I’m particularly happy to see this, being that the chair in question can be had for roughly two hundred dollars. Doing the math, this translates to a year of protection for every forty dollars spent on the chair. Whether we’re talking about chairs, cars or laptops, one year of warranty for every forty dollars spent is a huge level of consumer protection that you simply do not always see in today’s products. If it’s said protection you’re after, look no further than the Alera Merix450 Series, as the manufacturer shows a large degree of confidence in the durability of their product.

Overall Summary

If you were to ask what the best part about the Alera Merix450 Series is, you would be without an answer. The chair doesn’t excel in any one regard; it excels in all of them. Whether you’re after a great warranty, a high level of durability, a focus on comfort or simply a chair that looks great, the Alera Merix450 Series has it all. All things considered, its price tag of two hundred dollars seems to offer its customers a great sense of value and a very low cost-to-quality ratio. For a high-end chair at a mid-range price, look no further than the Alera Merix450 Series.
